As an instructor, you have prepared all the content for your course and now it is time to put it together in your syllabus, including the readings, tasks, and assignments. However, things can get overwhelming pretty soon in the semester for the students and the yourself. What do you prioritize? How you engage students in virtual environments? Do you see yourself merely as the deliverer of the content, or are you seeking to build relationship and a community?

As a matter of fact, there’s a lot of value in building an interconnected community between yourself and your students. This is exactly where I will assist you: building relationships and organizing (or maybe re-organizing) your content and assignments, preventing the overwhelming pressure and feeling of detachment among students. One example could be a simple change in your discussion boards: why not break the discussion into smaller groups – like we do in in-person classes – and make discussions more personal and relatable for the students? I will also guide you through organizing larger goals and deliverables of your class and create a weekly structure and schedule both for yourself and your students.

First and foremost, it is always good to keep to mind that teaching is not only about the exchange of some information. You are the performer of your course as the instructor. The performance of teaching is a constant process of building relationships and engaging interactions, curating your online personality, organizing how the content should be delivered, and increasing relatedness within the class environment.
